Plot
19-year-old Liana lives with her mother and sister in Frejus in the south of France. Obsessed with the desire for beauty and fame, she auditioned for a reality show called “Island of Miracles”. Agatha Riedinger’s film does not reproduce romantic clichés. It’s surprisingly authentic and sweet, like life. Impeccable acting and character development that is hard not to get attached to. An excellent script, which consciously – with a maturity rarely seen among debutantes – avoids the trodden paths of drama. The director hints at them, and then consistently leads us down another path. The reality of this film is far from the black-and-white simplifications that decades of patriarchal storytelling have taught us. Here we are talking about a woman. A wonderful movie, an incredible debut. 10/10.
